So I got everything ready to color my hair – because I don’t want gray roots for my 50th birthday tomorrow! I applied the “color” to my roots, pulled it through most of my hair – except what I plan to cut off – waited the designated time – went to grab the included conditioning treatment to use after rinsing my hair ….
… and ….
…the tube of what I thought was the “conditioning treatment” was actually the COLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had my glasses off and mixed the conditioning treatment into the developer as if it was color!
I laughed hysterically – jumped online to Target and ordered another box of hair color for Jim to pick up on his way home to color my hair the CORRECT way with the color in the developer! Thankfully it didn’t do anything bad to my hair! Whew! I felt so stupid I had to look it up online – to make sure I could continue to color my hair – and then I felt a little better because it’s apparently a common mistake others have made too!
So I’ve got the color on my hair now – and after I rinse it out and use the “conditioning treatment” the way it was intended to be used – I’m going to attempt to cut it! I’ve watched so many YouTube videos on cutting your own hair that I’m feeling way too confident that I can do it! Although, after the mistake I made with the color/conditioner mix-up – maybe I shouldn’t cut it?!?!? 🤔
Nah…I’m going for it! If I make a mistake – it’ll just grow back!
Fun Fact about my birthday – every year there are thunderstorms on August 13th wherever I am! Not as if we’re going anywhere, it’s a “Quarantine Birthday” celebration!
I’ll see you all tomorrow as a 50 year old!

I loved your color story and before reading I thought “oh no, what happened” but as you stated you didn’t do anything bad to your hair. I’m a retired accountant and hairdresser and at age 60, I decided to stop coloring my hair. The grays aren’t that bad so when you’re read, embrace the grays!

LOL. Well, we all make mistakes of that nature at some point in our lives! Hope all goes well the second time around, and especially the hair cut! 🤗
I’ve mixed up the color and conditioner also! No big problem but I didn’t get the color I was looking for! I’ve colored my own hair for years. It got too expensive in a salon. But cutting I think you should leave to a professional. Happy Birthday! Here’s to better days ahead.

Happy 50th! It is only a number! I will be 68 and have to stop and remind myself of that. The great thing about the older you get is you find that you don’t care or worry as much about what others think leaving you more time for other more important things. And a great thing is the desire to seriously begin to search for God more in your life. The important things begin to be clearer and more important.
