With the upcoming Scout Elf Return Week – when each child’s Elf On The Shelf returns from the North Pole – taking place November 24th – December 1st – it means that Santa’s little home observers are going to need to quarantine for their first 14 days when they arrive! Yes, 14 days of them staying in the SAME PLACE in your home. I can hear the collective sigh of relief from adults around the globe!!!

Since the same Covid-19 safety guidelines apply to our friendly Elf of The Shelf – and they’ll want to S-Elf Isolate upon their arrival – there’s some prep we’ll need to do!
FIRST: The QUARANTINE Location
Since the Elf is small – and super flexible – this should be pretty easy! However, they still need to be able to see what’s going on in your home from wherever they sit for 14 days. You can choose a clear plastic container, glass jar, or one of the cleverly made quarantine boxes that I found on Etsy or the glass jars with lids from Target!

There’s one more fantastic option from Brett at This Mama Loves – where you can print out a paper version of a quarantine box – and she gives you all the directions to set it up! Plus, she has paper masks to print too! The Elf needs a face mask too!

SECOND: An Elf Sized Facemask
They’re really simple to make at home from things you can easily find. I found an easy to make Elf face mask tutorial from Allison at Everyday Shortcuts! All you’ll need are a shop towel, paper towel, string, and a glue gun!
If you crochet, this adorable Elf face mask from Sarah at Repeat Crafter Me could be made very quickly!

THIRD: An Official Elf Quarantine Notice
Since the family needs to keep track of exactly how long your Elf has been quarantining – what better way than this easy to print off notice from Macaroni Kid! Simply add 14 days to the day your Elf On The Shelf returns to start the quarantine – and put that date on the notice!
