Need your IDEAS?  What to do with this wheelbarrow?

So I’ve got this wheelbarrow that I’d like to do something crafty with – and I’d love to hear and see your suggestions!


Before it starts to get chilly outside I really want to check this project off of my wish list!  I envision painting it in some way!  🙂

Where does the word “Wheelbarrow” come from anyway?  It’s such a weird word to say – at least I think so!

So I did a little research via Wikipedia:

The term “wheelbarrow” is made of two words: “wheel” and “barrow.” “Barrow” is a derivation of the Old English “bearwe” which was a device used for carrying loads.

It’s a hand-propelled vehicle that normally has one wheel.  It’s designed to be pushed and guided by using two handles on the opposite side.

And the first evidence of a wheelbarrow apparatus appears in the 2nd Century Han Dynasty.

…but I’m looking to make something a little more 21st Century out of the wheelbarrow I have!  💜

Leave the color. Put a straw bail in it and decorate with pumpkins, scarecrows etc for fall Then Chang for Christmas and each season

Original color of WheelBarrow is always good too, especially for Fall! And Halloween too! You might want another color when Spring comes around with the Flowers and stuff! Love Fall my favorite time of year!!!!!

i have one, that i have cleaned up and re painted. i raised the back a bit. planted phlox. for them to "spill" over the edges. then some small flowers kept in pots in the back so there is always some color. good luck with the project. but i would wait to plant anything till spring. maybe right now just clean and paint. put pumpkins, gourds etc now, with winters in pa i would probably just cover it til spring and then plant !!!

You could paint it any color you like and either paint flowers on it or maybe antique it. Then I would use it as a planter for seasonal flowers and plants. Most important, have fun with your daughter!

paint it and do a fairty/gnome garden. I did one in a large pot and i love looking at it.

I would paint it and clear the wood,then I would put it either in the yard or make like a flower bed and put this in it with seasonal flowers

You can place it in your flower garden and use it as a flower pot for different seasonal flowers. Once the season is done then plant those in your harden. You can also use it for party items near your patio. You can use it like a cooler to serve bottled or can items on ice.

I love the Previous comment...Paint it, use it somewhere in the BackYard. Build it up somehow, it will be so AweSome looking for all year.

I would leave that red, and paint some flowers in it! Use each of the seasons. With it being red a lot if American holidays! Did you know if you turn that around it becomes a chair? When we were having our house built....when they took their breaks they would turn it around so they had a backrest and a seat! Have fun!

I would find a nice area in your yard. Paint the wheelbarrow color of your choice. Then plant flowers in the wheelbarrow. Do some landscaping to make it stand out. Change the flowers and greenery to coincide with the seasons and the holidays. I would also consider doing some lighting with some mini lights.
