My tummy hurts. Who can tell me about IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Leaky Gut Syndrome and SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth)? Those are the 3 main possibilities for what’s been going on with me. I need to get some more tests done. Already had tests done last week (unrelated) – came back critically low in Vitamin D still – and I’ve got enlarged white blood cells (maybe because of inflammation in my gut it’s trying to tackle.). I do not believe I have any issues with Gluten – but won’t rule anything out.
The symptoms I’ve found with all 3 of them really surprised me – because it’s tied in all sorts of wacky things going on! Things like fatigue (always have had – but more so now), eczema, and rosacea are on that list that have developed either recently or over the past couple years! Right now I’m trying to eat only foods that won’t trigger anything like I had happen 2 nights ago!!! It was awful.
Thanks for any info you might have! Maybe some of us will learn some helpful information!

Thank goodness for SnapChat filters to make you “appear” healthy! 😉

Hi Jacque…My Mom suffers from IBS and leaky gut syndrome. Reverted back to clean eating and very limited carbs. WHAT HELPED THE MOST though was a probiotic product called Align!! It takes a week or two to kick in, but she’s had amazing results! She had severe pain attacks daily, lasting 2 to 8 hours. They are gone now. She tried several different probiotics and had no relief. Her gut Doctor tells all of his patients to take Align daily. Buy it at Costco!! It’s pricey but Costco has THE best price and value 2 boxes for $54, 42 day supply in each box.
Hi Jacque, i think I am the Queen of IBS!!! Ten years now. Five years ago was nonstop diahreah! Mornings are the worst. Lost over 20 lb the first month. Colitis and IBS-d. Rescue meds when needed. Peppermint tea and FODMAP definitely! And a gastro doc you have faith in. I tried gluten free but did not help. I wish you the best with this! They say stress related… so I retired four years ago and still did not help!
Such is life!

When i moved into a house with hidden mold, my digestive problems got worse and worse. as well as fatigue, dizziness, eventually pain and heart issues. Could you be living or working in a place with hidden mold?
Look into FODMAPS….you can find info online and there is an app for fodmaps. Look at Calm Belly Kitchen online too…..I believe that is the name. I had a very painful episode awhile back and found info on FODMAPS and it made a difference for me finding out what FODMAPS are.
So sorry you are having troubles. A good gastro Dr. is a must. A dear friend’s daughter was suffering and losing weight. Everytime she ate, severe pain. Finally a Gastro Dr. discovered she was missing an essential enzyme in her stomach and was unable to fully digest her food. Now she is healthy and a normal weight. For me, water is my savior – 2 qts a day minimum. Suffered with severe constipation and divic for decades and adding fiber drinks did nothing. First low thyroid was diagnosed and then realized drinking water made a huge difference – no soda, couple cups of coffee in the a.m. but otherwise mostly pain free but if I miss my water, next day, constipated, gut pain.
I posted a response and I don’t see it listed, I’ll try again. If you did receive it I’m sorry for posting it again. I suffer from severe abdominal adhesions. In the past ten years I have had 14 abdominal surgeries. The adhesions attack my abdominal organs. I had to have most of my large intestines removed because they were so damaged and weren’t functioning. Now they are attacking my small intestines, bladder and stomach. I live in constant pain and have frequent bowel obstructions. I have to be very careful of what I eat, no pork, beef, fried foods. I’m on a low fiber diet and have to be very careful of the types of veggies eat. There are days I can only have liquids ( I make sure I always have ensure in my refrigerator). The most important thing is to find a doctor that you trust, I was so lucky to find mine. If you want to talk you can e-mail me or call me. I hope you’re feeling better soon. Miss you on QVC. Feel good!
I would love to contact you or you contact me about adhesions….I’d love to know your Dr. and some of the things you do..I messaged you on Facebook…. my email is Shelbyben@aol.com..Thank you, Barbara
Like the previous response I also suffer from severe abdominal adhesions. They attack my abdominal organs, I had to have most of my large intestines removed because they were so damaged and not functioning. In the past ten years I’ve had 14 surgeries for them, they are now attacking my stomach, small intestines and bladder. I live in constant pain and get frequent bowel obstructions, I feel like I live in the hospital! I can’t eat certain foods like pork, beef. I’m also on a low fiber diet. I can’t eat fried foods and need to be careful of any vegetables I eat. Some days it’s so bad, all I can have is liquids. The days I’m just on liquids I drink ensure (I always make sure I have some in my refrigerator.) the most important thing to do is find a good doctor, someone that you trust. I was so lucky to find mine. If you want to talk you can e-mail me or you can call me. I hope you’re feeling better soon! Miss you on QVC
Hi Jacque. I know what stomach issues are like- after 8 months of agony I was finally diagnosed with Crohns about 6 years ago. Tried elimination diets and probiotics, lost 65 pounds, but still had problems so I went on Humira. Felt good for a few years, but recently have had joint pain, fatigue, and stomach problems again. I feel lucky that I haven’t had any surgery yet, and I put a lot of that weight back on. I don’t ” look” sick, and that’s the frustrating part when people comment that your just lazy. No, I have a chronic illness. I hope you get answers. Just remember, it’s vital to have a good relationship with your doctor. Mine always lets me try more natural ways , even if he still thinks meds would be better. He works with me, explains everything and listens to my incessant questions patiently. You know your body- trust your instincts, and find another opinion if you don’t think you get the answers you need. Prayers and hugs sent your way.
I actually live in Ohio. I was so sick in November 2017 with diverticulitis. I saw family dr. Who sent me to G.i. surgeon. No help at all. Up to Cleveland clinic in March. Saw best G.i. dr up there ( I’m a nurse as well ) tons of blood work to check for inflammation, Gluten allergy , and just everything really. Stool samples for like 6 diseases and infections. I am still not eating more then soft foods and only bout 15 foods. It threw me into crazy IBS. Just awful. Cat scan also was good so now I have 2 dietitians due to weight and not being able to eat. My Cleveland dr. Says I’m to introduce one BITE. Of a new food that’s it add each day if no issues TIL I’m eating it then in 3 days another food. It’s not working 🙁 bloating has pains etc then at times diarrhea I make my own bone broth and it does help. Feel free to message me if you want any info on Clev dr or bone broth. I’m still a work in progress !!
I’ve had diverticulitis and I am very careful what I eat so I dont get flare ups. Probiotics are a must for everyone to clear out bad bacteria and get the balance that we need. Keep us posted and feel better!
Me too. Barely eat anything the Diverticulitis threw me into a crazy irritable bowel syndrome but anyway what probiotic is it that you take please
I adore you Jacque and I’m sorry you are going through this. I’m a nurse, but this is all to vague to even comment on. Just keep seeing your doctor. Do lots of research. Read medical journals, don’t just read the junk on google. Go to your appointments with tons of questions and demand answers if it comes to demanding. Sometimes it does.
My son has suffered from GI issues for about ten years now. He is 26. He has Crohns , gastroparesis and chronic intestinal pseudo obstructions, along with rheumatology issues. First, you must get a colonoscopy. Please don’t do any of these diets until you have a diagnosis. Have they figured out why you are so constantly low on Vit D? Sounds like an absorption issue . You also need to see a well versed GI dr . IBS is different than IBD. If you suspect SIBO , that is consistent with gastroparesis. Please feel free to email if you want more info . My son has seen some of the best drs in the country .
Best,
Bonnie 😊
Very sorry for your pain. Wish I knew, but I hope you’ll be OK.
Hi,Jacque, I had all these problems and more, went to lots of doctors and spent lots of money to no avail. One day a name came up in a FB group I was in. Her name is Kathy Hope. She is a healing medium. I am a Catholic, like you and I was skeptical, but I thought I have tried everything else, so what the heck. Here I am nine months later on the road to being well again. I thank God everyday that I found her. I was so sick I don’t think I would have lasted much longer. I could hardly walk, lots of pain and stiffness, sleeping all day and many more symptoms. I can’t make the decision for you, but I just wanted to let you know my story and hope it helps. God be with you. Miss you on QVC! lol. Michelle Christiansen. PS, She has website.
Jacque,
I also suffer from Ibs and was diagnosed with two methods. The first was a colonoscopy and the second was a breath test. I have an auto immune disease of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome with a small case of Fibromyalgia. Auto immune issues are very common with IBS. I take Protonix daily and Allign. I don’t eat fried food, or try not to lol. You need to find a gastroenterologist that understands IBS. Dr Mark Pimentel wrote a book on it. The IBS diet. I would ask your Dr, what’s best for you, since your vitamin D has been low for so long. I have had this since I was 13, but at 54, I was retested with the breath test. There are certain antibiotics that can help you if you test positive. I’m wishing you good luck. I’m here if you need more information ❤️
Hi Jacque,
My answer is too long to fit here. I tried to send it twice but it doesn’t appear so, if it reached you without posting here, that would make me feel better than you. If there is a way to forward a lengthy response with links, please let me know how, if you’re interested.
Blessings, EA
It did come through!!! Reading it!
Probiotics have helped me. Take once a day or twice a day if need be.
What one do you take. Thanks in advance !!
I have IBSD. Stress and diet have strong influence. High fiber and cruciferous are not my friends. I also take VSL #3 probiotic daily to help maintain gut health. It’s in the pharmacy refrigerator.
Check out the following books: Dr. Kellyanne’s Bone Broth Diet, Dr. Amy Myers The Autoimmune Solution, J.J. Virgin books, or Dr. Tom O’Brien Autoimmune Fix. I tried Dr. Kellyanne’s 21 Day Diet and a year later I did her 10 Day Bone Broth Diet. The one thing that I noticed right away is that the chronic pain in my knees and back disappeared. My boyfriend said to me “Do you realize you just ran up the steps”. My knees usually hurt going up the steps, so I’m usually hanging on to the railing. I also noticed that I had a lot of energy when I was on the bone broth diet. I’m usually always tired. I work full time, but when I’m off I usually take naps, but not when I followed the bone broth diet. Dr. Kellyanne and J.J. Virgin have been on Dr. Oz and I love his show. The reason my pain went away is because on the bone broth diet you don’t eat foods that cause inflammation. I realized I have chronic inflammation. I also used to get eczema. After I felt better on the bone broth diet, I started doing research on inflammation, foods that cause inflammation and Autoimmine diets. I hope this helps.
I have the same issue. I’ve kept a food log & mine isn’t good related. I have the issues at different times. Any info someone can share is appropriated.
Jacque I have had stomach issues all my life(IBS, diverticulitis and mor) I found Plexus. Haven’t had any issues since last September. Don’t go a day with out it❤️❤️❤️If you want more info look me up or plexus!!
Are you one of the Plexus dealers?
I had diverticulitis in November 2017 still can’t eat normal I never got off the soft diet. I have gone into IBS following diverticulitis. Had testing like crazy done everything normal. Except I can’t add any new foods 🙁
I have these problems and they are from abdominal adhesions..Any surgery you have had can cause this..It is difficult to diagnose because the only way they can be seen is thru a laporoscopy.. These adhesions grow around the abdominal and intestinal area…If you want to email me I can explain further…..One of the symptoms is having to go to the bathroom frequently and gas and bloating…
