If someone has a Birthday or Anniversary during the Holidays – how can you make it and meaningful special and not take away from the festive occasions?
I ask because for the month of December alone – I have 4 family Birthdays – then two more in January!
It’s already tricky enough trying to find a special gift for Christmas – but try adding in a Birthday or Anniversary that you need to put some thought into!
I typically plan Theresa’s Birthday parties before Thanksgiving – (Her birthday is December 1st) – otherwise everyone is extremely busy and sometimes out of town on weekends.
We had Theresa’s party tonight – and half of the girls couldn’t make it due to their schedules being filled to the brim!
But the nice part was that Theresa had 4 of her closest friends with her – and it was so much nicer for all of them to stay together and have fun (vs. a larger group.). Bowling, pizza, video games, and dancing! It was fun!
I’d love to hear your ideas so I can try them out next year with Theresa – AND use some of them for the other 5 birthdays I have coming up in the next 5 weeks!
Mwah!

My birthday is the 26th and I had one birthday party as a child and my present was left over from Christmas, still sitting under the tree. So, I really never enjoyed my birthday. I just keep getting older. Lol
Our 41st wedding anniversary is on December 16th. ❤
My Dad’s bday was Dec. 28th and we always made it a seperate dinner and cake celebrationalso seperate gift. I always got him books which he loved.
My Birthday is 12/12.
Hi Jacque! I did post a comment on your facebook page about a “child’s” b-day. Now, if it’s an adult’s b-day, I have to say it depends on your family’s set standards. In mine other than immediate family members b-day gifts are not exchanged. A card is sent and a phone call–sidebar here both my family and my husbands is now very small due to passings. As for anniversaries, again a card is sent. I’m not so sure I’m on board to having to give gifts for someone else’s anniversary. They the couple should be exchanging gifts to each other, not other people. Again, a nice card can be sent their way or a lovely phone call. I feel we put to much “monetary” emphasis on “gifts”. An old saying; “It’s the thought that counts” and they doesn’t mean you immediately have to run out and buy a gift. And that also includes children in that lesson. They don’t have to always have gifts.
I enjoy your blog posts so much Jacque! I’m help with ideas, though. Theresa’s party sounds great with all of her closest friends with her. Sweet!
Yes, I understand completely. My daughter’s birthday is on December 6th and my birthday is December 26. It was always hard growing up. I had one birthday party as a child. I always try to make my kids birthdays special.
