What important self care ritual(s) do you do when you need to destress?
I know it’s really important to be able to step away from everyday stressors and do something that takes your mind elsewhere. I’ve really been thinking about trying some new things to relax.
I love to bake – but haven’t done it for a while. Plus, I’d eat it all!!! I also loved to crochet, but again, I haven’t done it for a while.
I recently started reading more now that Theresa reads everyday for at least 30 minutes. I was never an avid reader, but I’ve always want to be one. I need to find books that really grab my attention.
So what do you do that relaxes you? Let us know in the comment section below. Maybe those of us who are trying to find something new to try will find it in your suggestions!
Let’s go!!!

To destress I eat chocolate & pray & try to remember to take a deep breath.
I listen to Dr. Wayne Dyers CD “I AM”, “Wishes Fullfilled” meditation.
Hi
I was told about Belleruth Naperstak by my doctor when I got stressed out. She has guided imagery CDs that help with all sorts of things (stress, Anxiety, panic, insomnia). These have helped.
I also knit and read and go for a walk sometimes (I say sometimes because the Midwest is a bit chilly at the moment). I do yoga (gentle yoga). I also do acupuncture.
Perhaps treat yourself to a facial. Get together with a friend for tea or coffee.
Do you like visiting art galleries. Or a brisk walk; 15 minutes or so. Volunteer at your local food bank or library. It gets you “out and about”, meeting other people. Does your place of worship have volunteering opportunities; most do. Or groups that interest you in your local community that you can volunteer. Hope some of the ideas spark an interest for you to consider. Good Luck
I turn from my stresses to the blessingsin my life & the people/things I am thankful for. I was raised in a loving Christian family, etc. Try to write all your blessings down! I finally realized I have much more to be thankful for than things that try to rob me of my happiness & joy! I bet you’ll be surprised how many positives you have compared to the negatives!
I love to read cozy mysteries. I also like listening to music. I have a playlist set up with my favorite mellow tunes. Watching favorite romantic comedies is also a great way to relax and calm my mind. Praying is also a great way to relieve stress. Turning my worries over to God does help relax my mind.
I love reading, although it can be hard if I’m too stressed. It often helps if I go out and refocus myself. Handicrafts are supposed to be good for destressing. White noise can be calming, as it tends to level off brainwave activity. May your joys be many and your stresses few.
I just read your Blog…CUP-OF-TEA. Helps. Going through my closet. Donating my clothes. Love to Walk. Have lost 15 pounds which makes me feel better. I walk like 8000 steps a day, 5 Days a week. Health wise I Feel Really AweSome! Hope your feeling better too! Blessings, Sandy
Hi Jacque! I am an avid reader but I have a pretty strict rule- only fun and non- heavy/upsetting books! I work in a high stress field so I love to “escape” into the world of the book! I like mysteries (but not upsetting thrillers) and historical fiction novels. I also love reading memoirs of funny people (Tina Fey’s book was awesome!) I hope this is a helpful suggestion!
Hi, Jacque! I spend to much money 💵 the really cold weather in Michigan stresses me out. I bet your going through the same thing with your weather!?! We are using our FirePlace too. It is always warmer upstairs where we sleep 🛏 HUGS 🤗 SANDY
